So the truck will be on a car carrier Monday, if not already loaded Friday.

It should be in my Driveway by the 11th or 12th if not before

The importation papers was waiting at the post office, a pickup notice was put in a odd place by the kids while we were away.

You get 4 pcs of paper. A bill of sale (from Japan) a certificate of de-registration (in Japanese) and an English copy of the de-registration and a Form 3 from Canada customs proving that the truck is fit for import, it is registered in the inter provincial database and that it has its federal tax paid ($212 bucks)

Off I went to the provincial registration office (They do everything from Car titles, drivers licences, ID cards, Health cards and other provincial goverment services) and tried to get a title.

The lady was polite and helpful but adamant that I needes a 5th bit of paper called a "form 1". Well I anticipated this and presented paperwork from my broker how a form 1 was not required and they just needed to look it up in the system bu VIN and an Efile number. This office had not done this before and while the lady I was being served by had done JDM imports before, but it was before this change.

After not being successful I called the RIV (Registration of import vehicles) hot line, waited 5 min, got a human who looked up the file and it is in there (the system).

I called the Service Ontario office back and told them and the (still polite and helpful) lady told me that every thing she had found showed that a Form 1 (stamped) was required.

I called the service Ontario help line and after a 20 min wait I spoke to another helpful lady who listened to the scenario and quickly identified that the local contractor to the government for these services did not have the training to do this work yet.

She advised to go to the government office (only 1, the other 6 are contractor offices). They are open Mon to Friday 8:30 to 5 and have the ware withall to enter this in the system for my ownership - So I need to duck out of work Monday or Tuesday to get the ownership tag and pay the provinces $230ish in taxes.

Then it is off for a safety - But I have to get the truck in the driveway first. Once the title is in hand I can get a 15 day temp permit to drive the truck back and forth from the garage for the work.

Our populist primer (Doug Ford) has dictated that all non essential businesses will be closed @ 11:59 on the 24th What is an "essential business" will be reviled tomorrow around noon time. The same is occurring in Quebec as well same time, probably different list.

My truck was scheduled to be delivered on the 25th.

At 2PM I got a call from the logistics company - they want to deliver it tomorrow morning. I said please, please.

Chilo is home tomorrow, her place of work closed Friday and she did one cleaning today and is now off until further notice.

Me - I have 3 cameras to review tomorrow and then come home - Most likely the production department will close after the list is published and I am home after that.

So I will have time to spin wrenches for a few days

The virus isn't all bad. Arizona said no more elective surgery, so Shelley's surgery center shut down.
This will be the first time in her life that she collects U/I. There are other bennies, but whether it's worth the aggravation is still questionable.

Weather is beautiful, warm and sunny,, there is little traffic,, nights are oddly quiet. Costco has a senors' only opening twice a week, we're going there at 8 AM. WE really don't need anything,, but hey,, we'll probably get some more Charmin and some water.

The farm is plunking along,, all it requires is money.

A Costco hotdog! Maintaining traditions is important in fraught times like these

Congrats! Old tires can be dry-rotted too; best to replace them. If I ever restored an "old" vehicle I'd replace every rubber or rubber-like component on it. New brakes, new shocks/struts, start fresh.

Cleaned, primed and painted the new wheels during breaks of work from home over the past 2 days. Finished left, initial right

Now need to clear coat them and paint the center caps the same.

I have the tires on order now - Yokohama Geolanders.

On the 4th I managed to get the headliner down to put in the dash cam and 3 antenna mounts - The whole job took 5 hours as replacement parts would be so painful to find.

    (Ignore the fog light pix)

And then on the 12th I got to removing all of the aftermarket stuff.

The Japan toll collector - Digital TV - Aftermarket stereo / DVD player - Under carriage lighting - interior accent light and cleaned up the remote start.

All the stuff would fill a laundry basket. It took a good 3 hours to remove one wire at a time.

I am hesitant to remove the remote start just by putting gremlins in the system. Mind you the remote starter just interrupts the OEM harness to the Key tumbler. So if it does fail is will be pretty simple to remove.

The replacement stereo is a simple single DIN stereo and the police scanner will go under the stereo to fill in the dash. Another radio will fill the space from the ashtray and a CB radio on the passenger foot well.

And in the end I found 200 yen - About 2 bucks - In loose change.

I can see myself maintaining a Prado in Niclandia as well after this experience. Mind you the 1KZ-TE needs a little more "love" to maintain.

A lot of the Government offices look like Soviet era bread lines so I doubt it will be on the road any time soon.

So the stereo went in. Police scanner right below it (One of the holes I drilled for the antenna)

All of the "Stuff" that came out on the tailgate

The bluetooth mic managed to snake up the A pillar and Chilo says it is really good fidelity.

Loaded up the phone with a bunch of music and it plays OK by bluetooth.

It also plays FLAC files so I may load them up and see if any difference can be heard.

On the 28th I finally got all the ducks in a row for a safety. Appointment made the previous Friday (Tech's are on short days)

Because the Private/Gov "RIV" department screwed up the VIN I had to pay $90 for a tow rather than the typical $25 - 15 day temp tag - to get it to the Garage. The tow guy was not as sour as he looks but his tow revenue was way down and he said "With all this Covid Shit"

Safety was uneventful and I took the certificate to the Soviet style bread line to get plates.

Plates in Japan are wider so afixing them it tricky - I was going to whip something up but I remembered that Amazon did not exist in its current form 15 years ago - A quick check showed JDM to NA plate adapter @$39 Hudson's bay Pesos (About $30 US) So they will be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

Found a cheesy English/Japanese wording tire cover on Evil bay - I like it.

Off to the grocery store where the truck will spend its mundain next 20 yrs (Hopefully) of service.

Played around with EBAY LED kits for the clock and the info center - The info center reads temp, altitude, time running, speed, compass and barometric pressure - Can't see the "Coffee" button yet.

    So far I am getting 13.6L/100km about 17mpg US - 20mpg imperial.

I need a hitch to hook up a utility trailer before I can list the High and Dry for sale.

Contacted a few "Yunkers" (how the extended family call junk yards) and found one from a 2000 4runner.

Not sure what their definition of "Excellent" is, but it is not the same as mine.

The COVID masks they are handing out at work helped a lot from getting all that rust into my lungs

It is painted and awaiting bolts (12mm fine pitch) that is hell to find with all of the crap going on..

I have been talking "Freeband" for about 30 yrs. Some of the guys I talk with have been on since the 60's, Two are in their mid 80's. I am now the same age they were when I started chin wagging with them (Mid 50's) all those years ago and I feel time slipping away.

It was freeking snowing today as I mounted the radio - routed and sourced the power and then trimmed up the antenna for a flat match.

CB, below channel 1 (26.975Mhz) and above channel 40 (27.450Mhz). Most all activity outside of the regular 40 is LSB/USB

Our group has been on 27.575 since the mid 90's maybe before.

About 20 of left us from what was 75 to a 100 at maybe '00

here is still a large following looking for the atemospheric conditions to talk the long distances regularly. Spoke to someone in St Peats FLA the other morning, but conditions were fleeting and just enough time to say hell and it was gone.

Soon as un spot cycle #25 really starts up there will be regular yacking with Jamaica, germany, France, Italy

Never have had contact with a Nicaraguan station yet - 126 division

That radio you see there is 45W now peak on SSB - It was 90W with an unstable pair of FETs that regularly detonate according to forums - I replaced them after failure this Feb with electrically similar, lower gain, IRF520's

Back when I was running 4W am / 12W SSB (Early 90's) I did get as far a Guam and Belarus (Either direction)

Got the Futher Mucking hitch in place.... A hairs breath from 54 yrs old lying on my back with a 1 foot torque wrench set to 77 ft lbs.

    #*^%&@*@^&@^*&^*&

But it was done - The LED light you see is not wired yet - Just playing with fitment before I run 12V - Got some cool flip type illuminated cockpit switches for the working light.

All tolled it was $120 and sweat vs $300 for a new one.

Did the rear Dif at the same time with synthetic - Oh how I dislike the 100,000KM service - Transfer case and front dif after the long weekend.
