My rain gauge in Esteli is the river where it goes under the Panam. All rainy season it was running only for 2 short episodes. We now have water shortages in the mountains south of town and in the Enacal areas near Maxipali. I don't know if enacal is rationing water by barrio or just can't produce. Meanwhile, in the middle of the dry we are having some drizzle. Pleasant but weird.
Nic. is small country between 2 big oceans and weather is variable.
Supposedly once again they have finished adoquin to salto Estanzuela. Someday I ill take a ride to play with my camera.

We have steady, uninterrupted water service here in Leon, jodido. Bur the pressure is down considerably from last year. I continue to drink it from the tap - no problems.

A month ago there was a lot of chatter on this topic in one of the expat FB groups here. As I recall, those in Matagalpa complained of their water being cut off too frequently.

The western aquifer may be low. Big Ag has greatly expanded rice cultivation on the central western plains. Over recent years an astounding amount of water has been pulled up to flood those fields, that must evaporate rapidly under this intense tropical sun.

It's tobacco here. Amazing how fast something grows if you nuke it with water, fertilizer and bug spray. They are on their second crop this year down the road from me.

It rained most of last night,, at my farm,, and last weekend we had another .2 inches. But, it does seem to be less, the last two years.
Three years ago we had so much water that I was afraid that the lake would breach the dam.

Pic is from yesterday evening,, a friend's children chasing my pelebuey. You can see that we're still staying pretty green

Some parts of Estelí only get water half the day. You either get midnight to noon,, or noon to midnight,,, at least that was my experience. Of course,, people leave their taps open to fill barrels, so pressure is non-existent the first few hours of your cycle.
