    Default Copa flights

Copa trying to reopen thru its hub in Cd P. in August (presumably Aug 2020).No flights of particular use to anyone in Nic. Only Panama citizens and residents allowed into Panama.

"In this opportunity, we would like to inform you that during August we will be operating flights through Tocumen International Airport in Panama where a controlled operations center has been approved to reconnect several countries in the region. Initially these flights will be serving to some destinations including Miami and New York in the United States of America; Mexico City, Mexico; Panama City, Panama; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador; Sao Paulo, Brazil and Santiago, Chile. We continue working with the governments in the region to expand the number of destinations and serve as many people as possible following all the measures and protocols of disinfection, hygiene and biosecurity, to offer a safe environment at every stage of your trip.

Entry to Panama will only be allowed for Panamanian citizens and residents that comply with the requirements determined by the local health authorities. Prior to your flight, it is important that you review and comply with the immigration and health requirements demanded by local authorities to enter the country."

Perhaps attempting to become the hub that Miami was for LA flyers to the world prior to 9/11 ?

    Certainly some opportunity there.
As long as you have documentation and passage to your ultimate destination,, stay in the airport until your flight leaves.

I never understood why Miami couldn't manage that.

On the Covid: Either my friends in Nicaragua do not know what is going on,, and where the country is, precisely,,, or they are not telling me. I thought an unfettered contagion in Nicaragua should burn out by the end of August.

I wonder if DeBlasio didn't do the New Yorkers a favor by advising them to "ride the subways,, no fear of community contagion" on March 4th.

At 522 deaths per million,, our overall Covid death rate is .0005%
That gives us 182,000 deaths in a population of 350 million. So far.

Perhaps a quarter million by the time we start aggressively vaccinating the population ?

Deblasio was a jerk and mass murderer, just like Cuomo and Trump. And don't forget NYs duffus health director who I believe eventually quit. When this is all over we may someday know how many people died for lack of testing and refusal of treatment. And denial of safe, cheap medication. And indirectly from a recession that didn't need to be.

What you can't see from your place of relative safety is the great efforts people here are making to self -isolate despite the government. Nobody wants to die so the rich can get richer by promoting tourism. But people are getting bored and careless so probably more to come. I am still following Spain-- the virus is smarter than they are which is a good negative indicator for the USA's near future.

Miami was a major hub from here until 2018. And was the major hub from much of Latin Am. until covid. Copa was also major hub, especially for c.a., and they are trying to salvage that but the c.a market doesn't merit much in the short run..

No working properly tested vaccine in sight. Russia seems to be on a grand ego trip, let's hope they get lucky and their vaccine has some merit by accident if nothing else. No telling when China will unleash the next pandemic.

Word from the Esteli graveyard that midnight burials are way down but still happening., but no telling how many are being buried secretly in the campo.

Air Canada is trying to get going a once a week flight to SJO. that's what the c.a. market is worth at this point.

Perhaps a 1/4 million dead in the US by election day.

It is really just a veiled repatriation flight (Air Canada) . No one of sound mind is going to vacation in Tico land with the 2 week quarantine upon return, COVID tests that can not be delivered in 48 hours prior to departure (up here) and the cost of the new mandatory insurance.

Russia is vaccinating health care workers now,,, and teachers,, mass inoculations start in October.

Which is interesting,, as Fauci alluded to a vaccine in n October.

Political climate is changing. That could lead to the vaccine available sooner. If it looks like Biden is going to lose, then no reason to withhold vaccine.

That Portland video with the kid kicked in the head and critically injured, no police anywhere in sight, afro voices yelling obscenities, is worth a lot of votes.

Many articles about herd immunity this morning, length of immunity conferred, direct contradictions to statements by CDC from a few days earlier.

Will Nicaragua wake up Sep 1 with no Covid??
    Could happen.
