These charter flights cannot be booked online, right,, have to go through an agency?

Honduras border is open,, Guatemala supposedly opened last week, but I haven't had definitive confirmation.

The flights on Eastern you book through them, all others through a travel agent, best I can tell.

My _guess_ and it is only a guess. The charter companies have the contacts and have hired the staff to administer the paperwork to allow entry to the country.

This speculation is based on the flights leaving MGA seem to be at capacity but the flights in are missing a lot of people on the inbound.

A charter can pad the price and then subsequently facilitate by the padding, easy entry to the country.

    Cheers!

I think nobody wants to get sucked in too deep so they are going to limited service or charter. My suspicion is "tourists" are going to spread cooties and it may well crash. Nic's perception that its security problems come from abroad are probably going to continue until at least the election. Of course, for what the airlines are charging, 2-3x old rates, there is money to pay an extra clerk and eat the loss of no sales last 3-4 days.

As it is, limiting it to the brave, the desperate, and those will big billetes will keep air travel to a minimum.

AeroMexico just balked to Nov 5 now..

Maybe Avianca is making enough cash on the "Out bound" route (with their current cash situation) to continue the run with all of the hoops

I'm convinced that this part of the Ortega war on business. I emailed TicaBus,, they think Oct 20, but nothing in stone.
Ortega wants to keep the business people hurting.
They've been coming up with bogus tax bills for his opponents, then confiscating their properties when they can't pay.

$1,050 R/T from Miami, I guess if you gotta go you gotta go. I don't expect many backpacking college age kids doing that, like the pictures show.

My flight out to MIA with Eastern 5 days ago went smoothly. T’was a pandemic bargain at $400. The B-767 was only about half full, mostly Nicas. Because notice came from the embassy’s site, I assumed they were flying into MGA to repatriate undocumented Nicas. No, they were regular passengers, a stewardess told me. Only 60 on the plane that seats some 240. We left at 4pm and I got my checked bag in Miami at 9pm. It was a delight not to have to wait in the normally super long lines at MIA customs entry. Eastern gave us a bag dinner that was pretty damned good: a fat ham sandwich, cheese doodles, cookies, gummy bears & a coke. Better than American’s crackers & soda. My flight to Philly was early the next morning, so I just waited in the airport with two coats on (friggin’ AC) watching lame videos, nodding off regularly. And, come morn, enjoyed an Einstein Bros salmon & cream cheese bagel with coffee - yes sir, back in the USA. The American flight (B-737) to PHL was packed full. It arrived early, allowing me time to take the train into center city and an express bus home, saving $40 over Uber, and do a little ‘sightseeing’.

Will Daniel accept this guy? I mean, now that they're monitoring social media for subversives. He looks like he's fresh out of State Dept's Foreign Service training . . . and coming just before the pandemic/election year. Geeky gringos look like money/opportunity to desperate Nica students.

I checked the Mingob site for the biweekly "People served at the border report" Last report was Sept 21 that reflected the two weeks prior (Sept 6 to 19).

They were doing the reports for many months - No report since Sept 21

    Odd.

I don't think young Geeky Gringo Moneybags plans to live in Nicaragua, just to take advantage of illusory legal benefits. He thinks it allows him to travel more places, but try that right now. Reality bites.

The problem with running a youtube channel is what do you do when you run out of sensible things to say but you have an urgent need to say something?

That's when you cross over into the realm of click bait. "Want to travel anywhere any time? There's this one weird trick..."

A few of them (Click Bait) on the "News" site footers show Celine Dion, very gaunt, stating "She admitted what we knew all along" - I did not click but the only thought I could muster is "She is taking her her appearance que's from Rosario"

Looks like November flights scrubbed other than Avianca and charters.

Checked the Emigration web site today - The "People served" bi-weekly report that was run for some time (like over 6 months) prior to the resumption of Avianca has not been upated since Sept 21, which reflected people processed through the border in the 2 weeks prior to sept 18, has no follow on report.

Interesting that they would not want to report on the resounding success of reopening regularly scheduled airline service

Found some outstanding, detailed information on how to meet MINSA’s covid PCR test requirement within 72 hours of arrival at MGA https://nuevanicaragua.com/2020/10/12/flying-from-miami-to-managua-during-the-covid-pandemic-on-avianca/] when flying Avianca from MIA.

Now that the border from CR into Nicaragua is open (Not for Nica into CR), and Spirit flies into San Jose, someone wrote about that option https://nuevanicaragua.com/2020/10/24/border-crossing-costa-rica-to-nicaragua-2020-flights-from-houston/]border crossing after Houston to SJO

I checked CR insurance requirement: for me for 3 days mid Dec, the cheapest = $234.35 Still need to get the PCR test to enter Nica, $70 in San Jose, 24 hr. plus hotel.
