Either that, or she's been into the FDC.

    Yes,, you're quicker than me

    We finally figured it out.

And this led into a discussion of the fragility of power in La Lima, the community where my farm is located.
the use of Sí , and si, and then we movedon to other topics:

I susgested: "Si estornuda el perro, se corta la luz" a takeoff on the old DirecTV slam.

Krisnia said,, We already have a dicho: "Se hecho un pedo, se va la energia"

    Which led to the obvious,,

"IF the dog farts,, there goes the lights. "

BUT, it turns out there is no verb for "farts" in Spanish, just a noun.
    How can that be?

Krisnia gets scarce when the power goes out.
Our router in the house depends on the tower, no power,, nothing from the tower to the router.
So she has to buy regarga for her internet datos.
And as you know,, no Nicaraguan buys more than 20 cords of recarga at any one time.
I think that their mothers teach them that as babies.

We have power,, and we're pretty high up on the mountain,, and there is generally still an iffy phone signal from Estelí, which makes for a REALLY slow internet.
So,, we're not completely cut off.
BUT, the woman who sells recarga is down the road towards the Rio Coco, much lower, and has no signal when there is no tower.
So,, she can't sell recarga if the power in La Lima is out.

I think I already posted this picture of Krisnia standing on a picnic table in the front yard trying to find a signal

Some pics of the dam improvements done for ETA. That low spot has always been worrisome.

The water didn't rise that high,, but better safe than sorry.
    They did a good job.

Lots of pictures of hurricane destruction in today's La Prensa.

I feel guilty that we survived with so little grief.

The milpa got blown out, but we had already harvested the corn. We had some beans and squash , and vegetables inside the greenhouse,, all of it was OK.
Javier must have scattered some left over corn fertilizer on the beans.

    There was no structural damage.
My biggest fear,, that the dam would overflow,, went unrealized.

Actually, we have had heavier and longer lasting rains in the past, than we had with the hurricane.
I've had water top the dam in the past,, but not actually flow and erode the top: a lucky break.
By the time this happened I had a healthy sod covering the top of the dam.

We get some extraordinary wind bursts from time to time as well.

Krisnia is into Glam photos recently, probably some FaceBook influence.
You can see the mist that we wake up to in the morning at this time of year.
It generally burns off about ten AM.
