    Default New airport in CDMX

AIFA is slowly opening up in the far north end of the city. It's running a few flights a day for starters and they are working on a new train connecting it with the rest of the city.

The old airport will still be in service and will be the choice for those going downtown or points south.

It is about an hour and half from the most lived in parts of the city, probably more with traffic. Read some aviation folks stating that this was and will be one of the biggest boondoggles ever in a somewhat modern country. I forget the figures, but the other airport was about 40% finished, the cost to kill it was astronomical, and then this one is not all that serviceable. Supposedly the architect that designed it came out a few days before the opening and issued a disclaimer saying that what he designed and what, and how, the military built were two different things.

There is already the Toluca airport that never really caught on to the volume that was desired, it will be interesting to see if this one does as well. Many domestic airlines are slated to go there, and that is gonna hurt using CDMX as a travel hub for folks coming from other countries connecting to CUN and CZM and such.

Only the Mexicans could trainwreck something like this to this degree.

I've always wanted to try to hub through CDMX from Hermosillo. Prices WERE good to everywhere except Managua. Business class was affordable,, dates could be changed without charge, and who doesn't like two 70# bags? Maybe when I return end of May.

There is a steady stream of Tufesa buses heading south from the US to Mexico. Tucson to Hermosilo WAS $46. I haven't checked prices recently. Everyone is jumping on the inflation thing,, it's an opportunity to raise any price.

What got snotty the last inflation rodeo was not so much prices,, but interest rates. So, you have starter houses now at $250K, but if mortgage rates go to 8% or better, the house becomes truly unaffordable. We had interest rates of 12% briefly,, with seconds at 17%, and car interest rates in the teens.

The interest rates shut down investment, which cuts job growth, which drives unemployment, which leads to recession.

The war in Ukraine might have just come at the right time.
But,, I don't think that it's going to help Brandon.

We are going to have a triple recession--covid recovery, "equity", and the intervention in Ukraine. The worst will be the "equity" as all institutions, public and private, hirer and promote deadweight to meet unattainable goals. Like the old joke says: "We can do the difficult, but the impossible takes more time".

Next govmint gimmick-- the housing crisis. All the invaders and street bums will cause the govmint to announce a housing crisis. The fix? Easy, tax the people with houses to pay the govmint to contract with multimillionaire contractors to build $200,000 Affordable Housing apartments.

May you be cursed to live interesting times!

    I agree,, recession is coming.
Mortgage rates are up to highest levels in years (still very affordable at 5% if the house didn't cost 4X what it did 10 years ago)
DOW just yo yos around 35K
Taking Ukraine out of the wheat production equation means a lot of hungry people paying a lot more for their bread.

Biggest problem is,, no more stimulus, or quantitative easing possible due to increasing inflation and crushing debt.
As interest rates go up, service on the debt takes an increasing chunk of revenue.
If we move into a stagflation (inflation plus decreasing employment plus decreased investment) conventional economic tools will be ineffective.
AOK is going to have to get really creative to find the dinero for those $200K SRO's for the homeless.

The only positive I can see is,, much of this should happen before Nov, 2022
Some of the "Woke" might even wake up. Possibly when their cars get jacked.

This is a really good time to get a government job
