    Default Esteli Chisme

Mayor has announce 2 new projects.

One is a bypass road gowng from Las Limas to San Cruz to get truck and through traffic off of the existing Panam. Didn't get the details but this must be the long awaited San Pedro bypass.

The 2nd is a complete re-do of the baseball stadium near the south entrance, a mega project reminisent of the soccer stadium but with more greenery. These projects may seem gigantic for a cow town, but they are used for national and international games. Sports are a big deal here but I still long for women's beach volleyball.

Pot holes growing as fast as the zancudos but some sunny days make us feel human a little bit. Mud season should be over in 3 weeks or so. Commited to raise our porton for the flood hazard by next mud season. Damn I'm tired of spending money here.

Telemarketing raisng its ugly head here, mostly the phone companies. I miss my answering machine in the States.

    If we could just combine
women's beach volleyball and the Free the Nipple movement,, this country would finally take a turn in the right direction

Excuse me if I am not my usual chearful f'ing self. Barbarian evangelical cult had a scream fest till 4 am last night. They are somewhere on the other side of the river. Wish I had a semitruck with a bifgair horn to track them down and counter blast the bastards.

The neighbor lady stopped by to tell the senora she got robbed on a Matagalpa city bus coming home from visiting her mother. Grab and run, bus stopped and passengers gave chase but they got away. Female robbers got cel, cash, todito. Friend lucked out and a passenger gave her 100 cords to get her and her 3 kids back to Esteli.

Road to Tisey moving along, looks like they are going to adoquin it from rancho don luis to the Esteli county line. We had a great lunch there in the mountains Sat. New road to Sauce from the Panam under construction but very bumpy.

Remodel of the mall might be done. Where the terraza was is now the new food court, but with only 3 restaurants. Where the food court was is now a department store, more upscale than the one down stairs. I'll miss the old terraza.

Drier air is a blessing, you feel almost human again.

You guys are older, I turn 54 next month. Nicaragua is my heart, is my everything, but not going to let my life pass by to live in a shit hole dictator country. I wish I was there, but I can't and now on Blacklist, in January I will be on Island, borders are porous. Get to see 1st Gringo jailed by our Dictator. I am going home for a visit....

    Can you get to CR?
That border is really porous,, still.
And flight is (was) cheap,, Shelley left yesterday on a $400 RT to Liberia

Is there a boat to Big Corn?

I tell you,, this run to the border for Nicaraguans is almost like a Norwegian River Cruise.

Pic attached is Yaritsa in a raft crossing the Rio Suchiate. They put them up in the Hotel Conde in downtown Mex City.
There WAS that 14 hours in a remolke from Ciudad Mex to Mnterrey, true, but beats the hell our of freezing on top of La Bestia like in the old days.
She should be at the border today,, a day or two processing (can't keep them long,, no room) a Covid test, and a bus or airplane ticket to her destination.

Work permit in 6 months,, Arizona has a scholarship for teacher certification (for existing degree holders) in exchange for teaching a year in Arizona schools.
    It's competed 98% online.

I heard that the first "raft" of Venezuelans was flown to the US yesterday,, now that's the way to go.
They didn't waste any time on that one.

Tropical storm Lisa heading for belice and the peten. Interesting to see if it jumps into the pacific or caribe from there or just peters out. Esteli scheduled for rain in the weekend. Hope it is not the flash flooding we had after the last hurricane.

We got 2 inches here in Okie from one that hit Vallarta, was much needed. Not even hit National Hurricane Center in over a week, this is Nica time for big storms, usually I am on top of it.

It's too bad that it isn't as easy to get into Nicaragua Mojado as it is to get into the US.

I got a last text from Yaritza at 2:16AM this morning that she is at Piedras Negras preparing to cross.
Her phone didn't ping after that.

I sent her $200 via WU to Monterrey yesterday afternoon to buy new clothes and a warmer jacket.

They had one last hotel last night.
As you can see from the pic,, this is an upscale coyote who is leading the pack.
She didn't mention the name of the hotel, and I didn't want to appear too inquisitive.

We are blessed. The new la Colonia is open. Bright, white, on high ground with what may be ample parking. It looks better than the Mormon Church! Rumor from sometimes reliable source that it is bigger than the other one.

Now some bad news--the bacanal is in full swing. Aguinaldo is in flood stage-- traffic, chopping hysteria, you name it till 25 Dec.

New speed bumps in town but they are the low pain type and they are even painted yellow to give a sucker an even break.

4 lane widening of Panam is chugging along towards San Benito. Also, there are some new or newly paved roads heading east to Matagalpa and Masaya.
