And just for grins, here's the airplane in the second poster, a Sikorsky S-38. That's my brother standing next to it in the matching shirt.

And the Cessna 208 that could do the same job today, though with a little less elegance and romance.

Je je. You can right click and save-as, and print your own, but it'll be low resolution.

How much? As I recall, the flight from Managua to Bluefields was about U$100 r/t. The distance from Managua to SJDS is 40% as far as from Managua to Bluefields. Cost is based on more than just distance, but might provide a rough guide.

The landing gear tuck up into the floats.

Default i think you have a retirement business model

i think you have a retirement business model. if sjds becomes more of an upscale tourist place. don't see back packers doing it. but the continental to houston in the am at 5:00 leaving sjds and the 7o pm arriving at managua, could you land in sjds bay at twilight in that thing?

8-10 passengers. A direct flight in a C208 from Managua to SJDS would take about 45 minutes. A hotel shuttle could meet passengers right on the beach.

I guess I should have put the TRN logo on them? Or posted them under "humor"?

I don't know if Nica airline pilots have to retire at age 60, like US airline pilots. If so, then the pilot part wouldn't work for me as a retirement project unless I retire very early.

That leaves the "running a complicated, highly regulated, and expensive business" retirement plan, for which I'm probably a bit underqualified.

    Here are the original posters:

    I guess there's a resemblance, we're 4 years apart.
