According to Daniel Ortega, there will be no more Black Outs in Nicaragua due to rationing as of November 15, 2007. 86 megawatts additional will be added to the current electric system.

The national demand of energy is 496 megawatts, and even though the installed capacity is 660 megawatts and 522 megawatts effective, the contract is 426 megawatts due to problems.

Ernesto Martínez Tiffer of "Empresa Nicaragüense de Electricidad" (ENEL) did however say that if further problems occur with the equipment there could be additional rationing.
