Marvin Wright, Corn Islander & friend of many here on the site passed away this morning shortly before 9am. Marvin suffered a massive stroke 2 weeks ago & gave a hell of fight to the end. Corn Island will never be the same.

He was a real gentleman and a gracious host...even if his dog did bite me.
He will be missed.
Life's different here ... It's a whole 'nother pace.
Thanks for all the good times, Marvin. See you on the other side.

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable
Governor Mr. Marvin Wright...
I met him when he came to pay his respects to Miskito Alan, and before that when we had a getogether in Managua for Alan.
My Wife knew him for many years, and was feeling for him from yesterday, why, she did not know till today, it is a sad time in our home right now, but we all have to go one day, and we do not know our day....
Mr. Marvin and friends (myself included) had some good times eating, drinking FDC, and telling yarns about Nicaragua and the Corn Islands where he was a prominate citizen and friend to a host of people from there and around the world...What a charictor, and role model...
Here is a post I made when he came to Puerto Cabezas and got together with a life long friend......

Sad passage for Corn Island and the Atlantic Coast. I only met Marvin once but I was struck by his gracious humor and gentility.
There will be a service tomorrow afternoon here in MGA. Marvin's ashes will be flown to Corn Island on Wednesday afternoon. After a stop at the Alcadia there will be a service at the Catholic Church in Brig Bay, Parson Eloy from Ebenezer Baptist Church will officiate.
My thoughts go out to all you Corn Island Folks.
We have lost another good person.
Can you adopt some of his dogs to protect your avocados?
Foreign aid might be defined as a transfer of money from poor people in rich countries
to rich people in poor countries.
The Atlantic Coast (of Nicaragua) and TRN have lost a "real class act" with the passing of Marvin Wright. I think everyone who met him surely loved him!

Today would have been Marvin's 82nd Birthday, another good friend's is the 7th so we used to have a big time on the 7th and 8th. I had to make a quick trip out today and made a fast pass by a spot I knew they were having a few in his name. I hurried back home and made up some good food and had a couple of cold beers, nothing Marvin enjoyed more than a fine meal.
Marvin could barely boil water, it was a real sight seeing his method to see if it was hot enough to put on his Presto, but Marvin constantly told me he was the maestro of the cocinera or some such silliness. He loved good food. He stayed with me up in Florida once, we sat on my porch looked at the ocean, drank rum, and ate some amazing food, some I had taken days to prepare, neither of us could wait to get back to Corn Island.

I'm truly sorry I never met him. It's rare when a man is honored by his friends like this . . .
Next few days kinda crazy, few friends 7th and we split a bottle on 8th have Marvin's bday. Most our close friends have passed
