    http://www.elnuevodiario.com.ni/nacionales/12273

This morning brought on some violence to Bilwi. 1 man shot in the head and dead (of the faction of Yatama who wants municipal elections next November) and 1 man shot in the stomach (of the faction of Yatama who do not want Municipal Elections come November). On top of this several vehicles including trucks and motorcycles were burned during the protest.

Several Liberal Diplomats were heldup at the Bilwi Airport, by hundreds of people, some not wanting these diplomats to see the conditions of the area for holding elections (this being the Sandinista and 1/2 of the Yatama who are Sandinista backers) and others who wanted them to see everything.

Also during the evening one of the factions burned tjhe house of Centuriano Night, secretary of the "Consejo Regional", located in the Barrio "Aeropuerto", near the offices of Mifamilia.

Me and Mitch were out there this AM lookin to get his sorry butt on a plane...Never happen Captian....

Just because two came in yesterday in the afternoon..We really got to thinking perhaps things were normal.....

    NOT.....

The lead started flying, and people were holed up behind even burning car tires

Reminded me of that Pissaint country Veetnam....As Lyndon Johnsone would say....

Ok we made it to the gate of the airport to be turned away by the National Police wearing one of those green dayglo vest things like the deer hunters use home to keep from being shot as a deer...

Ok no flights,....Ahhh the Chicken Bus.....Here we go again.....

Woman that runs the bus collected the 420 cordobas and gave Mitch a ( I guess it could be called a ticket) Paper. and told us the Chicken bus left at High noon today....Damn, (and not the river kind)....

This is starting to sound like a modern day Cowboy story....

Thom you left a day or two to soon......

Jez what a mess......But I know you would laugh your ass off....

OK here we are at my house waiting for 11¨30 to got to the bus )I guess it could be called that) Station......

Having a coupla last minute Toñas, and FDC´s for the road...

Mitch has his bags packed, plenty of time to meet the thang (Chicken Bus) and was telling me he wanted a coupla Toñas for the ride....We mount the Moto and on the wy into town....

When what do we pass?... the outbound Chicken Bus, and had to turn around and run it down to get him on it..Lacking the Toñas for the road..

Hey Brudder man...Good luck, I hope this Welga don´t go Country Wide, but it is lookin´that way...

Someone get a camera, dammit. Video preferably, but any will do. When there's stuff going on people don't want seen, that's what we're here for.

Dam (and not the river kind)...Centuriano is a friend of mine....for many years..From when I came here....

I did not need to hear this... But fact is, the biggest part of the Pueblo is YATAMA NO SANDINISTA....

The Managua radios are going crazy about this disaster and one of the most popular right wing political comentators (Jaime Arellano aka El Pinguino) had his show cancelled due to government pressure. It is getting really ugly in many ways, Lord help us if there is energy rationing during the campaign period.

They emptied out the Alcaldia, computers to paintings.

There were many serious injuries today.

The " Consejo Supremo Electoral" (CSE) has officially suspended Municipal Elections till the LAST Sunday of April 2009. They made the decision because of the violence today.

Talking I think I feel a song coming on -

    They're rioting in Africa,
    They're starving in Spain.
    There's hurricanes in Florida,
    And Texas needs rain
    The whole world is festering
    With unhappy souls.
    The French hate the Germans,
    The Germans hate the Poles;
    Italians hate Yugoslavs,
    South Africans hate the Dutch,
And I don't like anybody very much!

    But we can be tranquil
    And thankful and proud,
    For man's been endowed
    With a mushroom-shaped cloud.
    And we know for certain
    That some lovely day
Someone will set the spark off,
And we will all be blown away!

    They're rioting in Africa,
    There's strife in Iran.
What nature doesn't do to us
Will be done by our fellow man!

Violence erupts in Nicaraguan indigenous zone

Violence spread in an autonomous region of Nicaragua as Sandinista efforts to halt elections continued.

Posted on Sat, Apr. 05, 2008

    MANAGUA --
Sandinista efforts to cancel the upcoming municipal elections in parts of Nicaragua's hurricane ravaged North Atlantic Autonomous Region sparked violence and rioting Friday in the indigenous community of Bilwi, where opposition leaders claim the government of President Daniel Ortega is trying to establish a dictatorship by eliminating their right to elect local officials.''The situation is chaotic and dangerous, and I think it is going to get even hotter,'' anti-Sandinista indigenous leader Osorno ''Comandante Blas'' Coleman, said in a phone interview from Bilwi. ``The authorities have to act prudent right now.''
