Default Anyone Know Where To Buy a Mop?

I'm serious here, folks. I have messy Catahoulas and a slightly less messy husband, and I have simply had it with these rag mops. They are a b*tch to wring out, and NO I do not want a maid. Below is a pic of what I'm looking for. I've seen one once in Jinotepe, almost two years ago, but never since. Found one once in Managua at Lugos, but they never got the replacement heads in then the darn handle broke somehow.

I refuse to move to the new place without having a decent mop in hand. Can anyone help me locate one? It must be sponge head, one side scrubby would be an extra bonus, and rollers for easy wringing simply a MUST.

Have you consider SINSA? I think they might carry it, my sister inlaw's Dad is the owner.

If not at Sinsa try Serlisa they are a cleaning supply company. They have a retail store located at the Camino del Oriente shopping center on Carretera Masaya near the Aladdin Casino.

Wouldn´t it help to find one of them buckets with the foot operated wringer?

Mop heads don´t last no time around my house, Oh and BTW the women just find a place and squish it out with their bare feet

Haven't seen any at Sinsa or at Serlisa, and I thought for sure that Serlisa would have one. Shopping here is still as crazy as the first day I set foot in country. I had a friend who knows how to find everything look for one for me, and all he could find was that wringer mop bucket like you mention, JW, but that would be a huge pain in trying to clean a house whose rooms are a hundred feet apart with grass in between!

Surely I ain't the only gringa jonesin' for sponge head roller mop?!

Yup, yup, that's me in almost every store in Mga! Roger knows by now to give me LOTS of money when I'm shopping for some hard to find item, and to bring the big truck to haul the finds home.

FYI, tracked down those suckers two days ago, at Lugos again. They had carried them a while back but like most stocking experiences, it took forever to get them back on the shelves. A bit pricey at just under $20 for a mop with one replacement head, but well worth it to look at my floors today.

There are two really good places to purchase cleaning equipment. Unfortunately, Nicaragua is no equipped with a logical address format.

    1. Caratera Masaya - If you are heading from Metrocenter going to Masaya there is a strip mall on your right hand side. I can't really tell you which one, but its in between Rotonda Central America, and Telefonica. It is located right next to a wine store.

    2. Koch equipment. This place if I recall is from Retonda Periodista go South up the hill about 100m. On the right hand side there are some really new and good looking buildings. Look for the SINTER sign or Koch sign. Make sure you ask the guys at Koch for a magazine.

As in "large selection of imported grape juice?" Can you hook me up with some Google Earth coordinates? I've given up trying to find my way around Managua.

There are a few wine stores around Managua, one is located right next to the Old Bell South Building, now Movistar. They are nice to work with for events, we purchased a few cases of champagne and was given discounts. There is a nice selection and everything is separated into regions. They tend to have a larger selection than most stores, however some of the La Union stores have rows of wine and liquor.

coordinates Lat: 12° 6'28.83"N Long: 86°15'3.65"W "La Cava del Vino"

This ENOTECA looks like a lot of fun, Cava del Vino used to have a space upstairs where you could hang out and drink some wine, they converted it to office space I believe.

Also, just up the road, past the Galerias is a strip mall, I forget what its called, theres a place over there "Bavaria something or other" they sell sausages and a few specialty items, such as Wines and liquors made in Nicaragua, a small selection but some. I have not been in the store in about 2 years so that could have changed.

That's the Gourmet Mirador I believe, at roughly Km 8 carretera Masaya. The Bavarian Delicatessen, besides smelling awesome just walking in, carries Jicor, one of my favorite things to drink in country. It's made from the Jicaro, is sweet and pasks a nice wallop, especially the brandy.

Nothing impresses them (yet they keep showing up for more).
