I couldn't go to sleep, and it happened to be about midnight, so I went and fired up the computer and made the switch right on time.

So I turned in early last night. I wanted to see what Jack would say this morning about it.

Or, as Nicas say, "Buenos." The "dias" part is very formal. After lunch it's "Buenas" for the unspoken feminine "tardes."

Ahh, those are excellent! Instead of the English, "Did you sleep well?" it's (more or less) "How were you when you woke up?" or literally, "How did dawn break for you?" Is that about right, Cathy?

¿Tan usted debe tener mejor tiempo allí también? Es una relevación agradable. En donde estoy es el tiempo peor que he tenido que nunca aguantar

Pretty much, but more along the lines of simply "How are you; good morning"
It's obvious this is being asked in the am simply by using amanecer as the verb.
