    Default I have 5

of the now discontinued Rapalas Jointed Sliver, in 12 and 16 inches in Red and white, mullet and Blue colors, these worked great in Huehuete and Casares, Huge Mackerels love them .

I think we need to reserve a boat and captain for those dates, any ideas renco? or marlies???

The planning is as much fun as the fishing and the lying.

Randy and Rosa Poteet at Rumble in the Jungle www.rumbleinthejungle.net have boats and guides, Rosa always has a fish in the money so try to get with her as your partner. Victor Lau from Bluefields also has two boats and puts together competitive teams as does Alvin Taylor from Corn Island. Alvin did not fish last year but he has good boats and should come over if he has some clients to fish the tournament.
We will help put teams together with boats and guides as the Bluefields fishermen know the waters like the back of their hand and would appreciate the business.

    Default Not really

The lying and Fishing it's all part of the fun, and you left out Drinking.

However, when it comes to a tournament it's best to plan it out, specially when a boat and captain are needed.

Unless pangas are readily available on minutes notice???

I'd hate to attend and not be able to fish it,due to lack of planning.

    Please advise on this renco.

Never had a fisherman left at the dock, (except after the captains party when they missed the boat due to high FDC flow) I will start working on this now but what happens in practice is that there are plenty of pangas and guides and few rods and reels. Bring your gear with you as there is no store in Bluefields or in Nicaragua to my knowledge that stocks good quality fishing rods, reels and lures.

Do you plan to stay at Casa Rosa FCG?
I'll be down from Seattle at that time for a week with a writer-friend of mine. We're doing a article on fishing in the area.

I'm hoping Randy doesn't overbook and there is still a boat for us!

Good point LCT. Where (ANYWHERE) in Nica can I play Texas Hold 'em? I'm gonna be going to San Jose every month if I don't find someplace decent on this trip. Gotta get my fix and online just aint the same.

Default I read an article in Card Player Magazine recently

and one of the articles discussed playing Texas Holdem at the Pharohin Managua. He went on to say they had some odd interpretation of the rules about blinds and such but not a big differernce.

I'll check it out. I went past the place last time, but since I was flying solo I decided to give it a pass. I tend to leave poker rooms with other people's money in my pocket. Not the safest thing with no ride and only one pair of eyes.

I have a copilot this time around. He don't know nuthin about cards, but he's good in a streetfight.

Oasis Bluefields is a small casino at 100 slots and three table games, no holdem. We can set spread a game the tournament week. No rake for those nights.
By the way, for good basic strategy blackjack players the new Casino Fantastic on Carretera Masaya in Managua is dealing a six deck game out of the shoe, where you can surrender against the dealers ace, double down after any splits, match play for 10 percent of all buy ins and they only take your initial wager if the dealer blackjacks on your double down. My calculations show the house to be upside down by about a half a point. All of the local casino owners and blackjack pit bosses are coming in winning and getting barred. We whacked em pretty good last night.

Couple of miles by land, five minutes by water. We have security guards at the municipal wharf during tournament days so the boats will be fine. We are still six months away but I am already getting fired up for the tournament.

We're 7 weeks out now. Are all you smack-talkin wannabe fishermen still in?
Anyone else staying with Randy during that time?

We cannot stay through the weekend ( too expensive to change our flights) but we'll be there through Friday....lucky for you I might add

    John,
You can cheat but watch out for the Bluefilenos, two years ago we almost had a human gaffing at the municipal wharf over an alleged illegal fish. We decided this week to go forward with the tournament despite the world wide financial crisis and losing a big sponsor.
The only difference is a POSSIBLE change of date to the last weekend in March, more tomorrow in the afternoon after we meet with INTUR and a new sponsorship group. My hope is to not move the date as we have folks planning vacations around the announced date but one of the commercial sponsors may insist on the change as a condition of support. More tomorrow.
