Default Granada: Century 21 damages neighbors house?

    http://www.laprensa.com.ni/archivo/2...s/288893.shtml

Mariano Marín showing some of the damage

Century 21, under the administration of the foreigner John Marc Gallaher, in Granada, was denounced for damages to a home that is the neighbor of a house being reconstructed by the company. The construction caused major damages to the wall of the neighboring house, owned by Mariano Marín Pérez.

The home which was damaged is in the Central Historic area of Granada and the wall is at least 200 years of age.

The property being reconstructed is of the old Restaurante Vallarta, now known as Casa Yalula.

Casa Yalula is apparently putting in a swimming pool that meets with the damaged wall, they did not use adequate treatments for this construction and the humidity and a rupture has put the other home in danger.

The neighbor claims that the proper permission for some of the excavation and construction work were not obtained by Century 21, and this has caused the collapse of a chimney and the fracture in the wall. The wall that has been damaged is in the bedroom of his 93 year old mother. He says that no permission was given by the "Oficina de Patrimonio Historico" of the Alcaldia of Granada.

Marín put the denuncia with the police since June, and nothing has happened yet. He says that the Foreigners do what ever they want here, and no one says anything. He says that he is not against the investments from foreigners, but he does not like how they damage the patrimony of the city.

An inspection was done by the Alcaldia of the property and the result shows that the base of the wood columns of the wall were damaged by the humidity.

John Marc Gallaher, was consulted by La Prensa and said that he is not responsible for the dameges to the adjoining property, and he believes that the Marín family just wants money. “There is not going to be 1 cent for this case, I am sorry, but I am not going to give anything because I did not cause the damages" he said.

Hotel Capricho is even nicer. Colonial houses in Granada have a lot of potential.
