Thread: a story or not?

    Default a story or not?

Randude brought up something today about alimony and child support, and I was thinking about my mother-in-law and her new boyfriend.

Apparently this new guy is separated but not divorced. He has 3 sons between the age of 17-21. He claims that if he gets a full divorce right now he will be forced to pay his separated wife 60% of his salary. The reasoning for this he says is that because all of his children are not 21 years of age, even though all of the 3 sons have moved away from their mothers home and have jobs. He says that by Nicaraguan law, girls are considered adults at age 18 while boys are considered adults at age 21 (voting and drinking are completely separate from this age).

Now although it smells fishy, he seems to be the one that wants to marry my mother-in-law, she has actually told me that she does not want to marry him. So he has been trying to straighten out some paperwork for this marriage to happen.

anyone know the legalalities of this, any of it really true?

thats what I told her, plus hes a sandinista. I tried knocking that out of him but hes pretty stubborn about it. Something else that does not make sense to me, his 3 other brothers all died very young because they were taken in by the sandinistas to fight and for that reason hes indebted to the Frente?!

In my case I will still probably pay after my daughter is 18 because I know they need the money. My ex makes like $40k a year and she is used to $150-200k. Just living on the $1500 a month that I was ordered to pay her puts her in a tough spot. I was hoping my ex would remarry, and it isn't like she hasn't had the offers. She has met guys that make more than I do.

A single gal with a kid can make it on $40k a year. Screw her. No, not that way; you know.
