Default Drug use up, Children are pushing the drugs

The Minister of Interior, Ana Isabel Morales, made statements yesterday with regards to the increment of drug and alcohol use being seen throughout the country.

One of the major concerns brought up was that Kids between 6 and 10 years old are now part of the street drug pushers in different parts of the country.

Yesterday the Minister had a meeting with worried families of Leon, who claim that children in Barrio El Laborío, near the church, were pushing drugs as if it were candy. The sellers in this barrio are apparently using the children so that the buyers do not have to go to the dealers homes, they offer crack, marijuana and cocaine. This use of the children is for a few huge reasons:

    1) Harder for the police to find the homes of the dealers

    2) According to the "Código de la Niñez", a child's action can not be blamed on the parents.

Glue is a problem in Granada. Is it a problem anywhere else in Nicaragua. In Leon? In Managua?
