The U.S. Embassy will hold a Town Hall Meeting for U.S. citizens at the Municipal Building in San Juan del Sur on October 30, 2008, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Ambassador Robert J. Callahan will be the principal speaker.
Representatives from the Consular Section will be available to assist U.S. citizens with questions regarding federal benefits, voting, and other consular services. The Regional Security Officer will discuss security issues and concerns.

Information about all of the services provided by the American Citizens Services (ACS) unit can be found on the U.S. Embassy website: http://nicaragua.usembassy.gov/gener...ormation3.html.
Specific information about the absentee voting process can be found here: http://nicaragua.usembassy.gov/october_4_2008.html. Please note that voting will not be done at the U.S. Embassy on November 4, 2008. Under normal circumstances, most states and territories begin sending ballots to overseas citizens 30 to 45 days before an election. If you have not received your ballot yet and you have registered by your state’s deadline, you should send in a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot, available at http://www.fvap.gov/shortcuts/get-ba...lot/index.html. Consular representatives can assist registered voters with filling out a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot and will collect voting ballots the night of the event.
