In an interview with Montealegre, that La Prensa conducted, Montealegre mentioned some of the issues which he will face as Alcalde, and those that he would like to target.

He says some of the biggest issues in the city are the roads which are mostly damaged, the public insecurity, the garbage which is a health problem, facing the ecological damage that has been caused by the sprawl of the city.

Montealegre mentions that he will not be seeking Presidency in 2012, if he were to run for President, by law he would have to leave the Municipal office 1 year before the elections to campaign.

Facing public insecurity, Montealegre would first like to add an additional 1000 police officers to the Managua force, this being a 33% increase from that today (between 3,000 and 3,500 cops on the street today). He has also already started seeking financial help from other countries who would like to donate police equipment, from vehicles to radios.

Additionally as law enforcement is not the only thing that will affect the crime, he would like to start Safe Neighborhood Plans. This involves adding lighting to the barrios, and sports complexes to get adolescents off of the streets, causing mischief.

As to the garbage issue, Montealegre would like to push for public awareness of waste disposal. This would involve trash separation for recycling, which could be done in each household and business. Promoting the idea that trash can be worth money. He would also like to eliminate the people dumping into water channels and abandoned properties, he plans to put dumpsters into places in many key locations so that those without trash service have a place to put their trash, and that can be collected easily, instead of cleaned up.

As to the dangerous watershed that Managua has begun with deforestation and urban sprawl over the past 30 some years, he would like to start promoting programs which would slow these waters down. He would also like to put in requirements to make the builders that create the Residential complexes, put in extra trees and other measures which will help to slow and absorb the water.

As to fixing the streets, he says that some of the repairs which Ortega promised and did to many streets are now in disrepair, because they simply patched what was there a cosmetic job which was cheap and worthless. He plans to use some newer technology and help to actually repair the damage to the aging streets.

He mentions that a lot of help is already approaching him from other countries, Spain would like to help to build a recycling center, in which the families at La Chureca can get involved in.

He would like to transform Managua into a more attractive, organized and welcoming city for travelers, starting with the road from the airport.

After completing the long, involved and beautiful opium dream he passed the pipe to a smiling Alexis Arguello who affably mumbled something about boxing and CPC's.
You'll excuse me, gentlemen. Your business is politics, mine is running a saloon.

His plan is to let Rosario Murillo tell him what to do. Oh and he wants to break Managua alcalde down into fragments per district run basically by the communities/CPC.
