Default Building with tourism in Mind

    http://s492.photobucket.com/albums/r...ch%20Catarina/

Building the right house for the right location...This Santa Fe house on the right built on a friends sub-divided lots on the rim of Catarina overlooking the lagoon towards Granada seems out of place. The one on the left would have been better suited for this lovely place. More pics at the link above.

Jorge, with the prices I have seen with Wood construction sence I built my 1600 Square foot home, it is not only not Politicaly Corecct, but more expensive that concrete and steel.......

Now haveing survived Hurricare Felix I am one to promote the lighter built Cuban architexture of cement and steel.... it held up well in one story applications.....

This would be in John´s field.....

Not quite right, the felt wood IS the building material and Dud can produce millions of board feet. All this in conjunction with helping the natives and replanting. Have you spoken to Dud lately? Come on, I`ll take you to go see him on my Ultralight. Meet me by the Bocanita, Bring the beer and a five gallon jog so we don`t pee on anyone down below. I can land on that little body of water that the sand bar seperates from the sea, oh it it still there? Gotta head over to Port and go on a drinking tour with a couple of you folks. Do you have Araus`s phone number for me? I can hitch a ride with him.

OK you and Dud have a point, there is NOTHING that smells so nice as a wood constructed project.....FOREVER when a bit of Cedro Reall into the construction, and I agree about it being a RENEWABLE resource, it is just like farming on a different time frame.....

I just wanted to see if you brought that up, call it a test.......

Dud called me the other day but I was not at home......

He is probibaly out in the bush somewhere hugging trees like our other member RogerTroll.......

The two higher end Wood Cabins (not so modern) I have seen, seem to be in bad locations, they don't look right where they are. The one in the picture below is on an isleta off of Granada, and the other is somewhere between km 8-12 of Car. a Masaya heading into Managua on the right hand side.

The prefab house that Simplemente Madera was building at their facility in Managua on the lake seems like it has a few interesting Ideas. heres the link to some pictures: http://www.simplementemadera.com/gal...use/index.html

    Tests and more Tests.....
Here is a social housing project that is catching some steam with the Government...Being built as you read this for to meet their social obligation.
Small but kinda cute, just add pillings for a Atlantic Coast application. Please get me Arauz`s number, tried to PM you but your mailbox is FULL!!!!

PS: Yeah you are right about the smell, I remember my childhood in Puerto and all that pine stacked up everywhere. Just send me the number to my email and any message you need to get to Dud, will see him today or tomorrow.

This small cabin reminds me of this camp ground off near Cape Hatteras North Carolina, they rent these 2 room Pine cabins with AC for $50 a night. One room has 2 bunkbeds and the front room has a queen size bed and a space for preparing some meals, closet space. There is a nice little porch as well. I think they pay about U$2000 for one of the structures with storm windows, and insulation, made somewhere in Pennsylvania. These could be made for pennies (+ wood) in Nicaragua.

I was told by one local that the reason for it John, is because we have not all come all the way yet down from the trees, and it makes us feel a bit more at home......:LMAO:

I swear it´s the Black A$$ (as they say in Corn Island) Truth......:LMAO:

I still get a kick out of the local expressions and predujices.....
