    Default Oldie but goodie

I just had to copy and paste this bit of history, written by one of our own....

I have read it over the years at least 22 times.....Some on here now perhaps missed it....I do hope you enjoy this little blast from the Past...

    A Tale of Two Nicaragua’s … A History Lesson

Submitted by no longer registered on 14 August, 2008 - 18:00.

Once upon a time there was great land known as Nicaragua.

And unto this land was drawn a vast number of citizens who were quite diverse, knowledgeable, hard working and clever.

This land was ruled by King Alan of Miskitoland an enlightened and benevolent King who was loved by all while the land was managed by the Sheriff of Esteli.

Now let it be known that in the Golden Years of Nicaragua, King Alan would mix with his citizens and joust with them and tease them along with the court jesters.

He would dispense his vast knowledge and cast judgments with the wisdom of Solomon....not to be confused with Toni the Verbose.

The Court jesters were beloved or despised by all ... there was Big John, Little Tom, Farmer John, The Padre, Peter The Great, The Cat Lady, Hairball, The Fisher of Men, The Sage, The Man from Nowhere, and the infamous Santana Maria.

Oh, those were great times with tales being told, food was plentiful, wine was flowing and the conversations were filled with mirth and fueled by Flor de Cana.

Such were the times of an Enlightened and Benevolent King .

But then the King fell sick, and into his land crept a viper.

A viper known as The Whoretega.

The Whoretega lied to the people of the land and paid a princely sum to the Sheriff of Esteli to do his bidding.

As the King became weaker and weaker, The Sheriff became more emboldened.

The Sheriff began his crusade to subject the citizens to his bidding. The citizens were alarmed at first but thought that surely the King will protect them.

Alas, it was not to be.

There was rioting in the streets as the Sheriff and his men began to beat the citizen’s thoughts and writings into the cesspool of the cursed.

Finally as the King lay on his deathbed, The Sheriff began his overthrow of the land.

The Whoretega was anointed and put The Sheriff in control.

The Sheriff was sworn by The Whortega to enforce the new rule of law, no matter what the citizens thought or felt was right or wrong.

The once great land of Nicaragua was cast under a pall of gloom and darkness. Whenever the citizens spoke out against the new rule of law they were tortured with constant rhetoric from the Book of Marx and La Prensa Latina.

Dissidents were scorned and laughed at and finally on one winter day the citizens were banned from the land.

Their books and diaries were confiscated and burned by The Sheriff. They were cast out forever.

The Whortega and The Sheriff were not to be denied.

The rag tag band of dissidents were left wandering, trying again to find the Promised Land…. The land that the Sage knew to be The Real Nicaragua.

The prophet, Big John, calmed his weary troops and said that salvation was near.....when Lo .... A star was seen ... rising from the East, directly over Little Corn Island ....

A bright shining star that led them to .... The Real Nicaragua.

The multitudes cried "But why here Oh John" and he smiled because he loved them and said "Because it is Good and it is Right and it is Righteous. Because here you can speak and be heard. Because here you can sin and not be scorned and sin and sin again in the quiet just before……. I digress……..

Because here, your voice will not be trampled. Because here your silly leftist views will be tolerated but challenged.”

There was a great murmuring in the crowd and a voice cried out "But is it is not Drupal" and again Big John just smiled and said "Soon my son, you will see that Drupal sucks" And it became so.

The seeds were planted and the flocks began to recover and the love was regained.

    Peace came over the land.

The Flor de Cana flowed and the true love of expression that binds us all was restored through the Enlightened, and Benevolence of Big John.

However, in the land of the Old Nicaragua, the citizens were distressed as inflation was rampant and food was scarce. There were rumors that the Sheriff was keeping all of the information from The Real Nicaragua to himself and would not let the citizens express their fears and concerns.

The Whortega spoke to him in a dream through the Hairy One (Tres Biches) and said that it was time again to cast out the non-believers.

They know naught and cannot speak for themselves as they are children to be fed from the Marxist teat and to be punished for their transgressions.

But the citizens said ... "But there is no inflation in The Real Nicaragua. The food is plentiful. And they are terribly clever over there. May we not have some of that?"

And so The Sheriff cast off his cloak of office and revealed himself as whom he really was ... the Son of Karl, and brother of Toni!

A man who could only kneel at the altar of The Whortega and a man who forsook his own mother to be accepted into the Brotherhood of the Dark Side.

And so, the Son of Karl proclaimed..... “I am the ruler of this land and you will be silenced”!

The citizens were shocked and sought refuge.

And so, again, one by one the citizen dissidents looked to the Right and found refuge in the only place that their voices could be heard with love, compassion and understanding.

Even if they were dumbasses. Because even dumbasses have a place in The Real Nicaragua.

Brought to you by those really clever people chatting away at each other!!

As the Great late King Miskito Alan would say......

    I don't like it....I love it.....

That was the great LCT firestorm over at pinkoliving.com. We had a nice cat fight over it, but in the end they didn't see the light.

If this fantasized parable is the gospel truth of the tragedies inflicted on Nicaragua, especially on those who yearn for the return to the good old days of the freedoms associated with the regimes preceding the revelucion, I would recommend that a super Contra force be resurected, complete with some really, really heavy duty nucleur fire power. Bomb the hell out of the usurpers of the good old days, resurect your visions of right and wrong, implement them with force, and then sit down and enjoy a cold Tonya, and have an orgasm of sheer esctasy knowing that you have justily rsurrected a Samoza paradise which will last hopefully for at least another half century.

The pen, A.M., is mightier than the sword.......

This was a parable about an old now defunct informative/chat site, that after the King died, turned into a "One Man Band" that got to censuring, and omitting Posts, of its citizens, and even got into bashing and chastising others in support of a certain political ideology, which many just no longer wanted to be a part of being used as a tool for Marxism without admitting opposing views......

So a new site was born, with Sweat, effort, and a few bucks, and Big Jonh, LCT and others......

    Welcome to The Real Nicaragua.......

The so called defunct web site, as |I recollect, was an inportant info source for neofytes such azs myself seeking info on Nicaland (we,re speaking of 5-6 yrs ago wen I first joined), and which was immeasurably valuable to me permitting me 2 live there for four years). It was also a source for pro Somoza, anti humanitarian propoganda ravings, rages contaminating all reasonable dialogue for info seekers, members diametrically opposed politically, rages which reflected the Third Reich mentality of pro-Somozaists, and which coulod not handle the heat in the kitchen in view of the changed Nicaraguan political climate. The 'right' wingers now have their own site to propogate their political distortions, and in the guise of info sharing, provide a platform for neophyte inquiries on life in Nicaland. This site. While originally an active contributor to the alternative Nica web site, I now read what's there, say nothing, and for the past couple years have perused this particular site. Nothing really has changed but the real comfort is that the American |Empire is in rapid decline. U too will be swallowed into oblivion by the history of the worlod as it rapidly evolves. So too this web site.

    Hey there Plain John
Given your homilies, your rants, your raves, on this web site, and the nearly defunct one on Nicaland, do u have any what Marxist is all about?????By your politico-philosopical stance, how woud u define President \Obama's views, the fiscal direct state involvement in the bank, auto, and other american industrial interventions.

Seems like the US is becoming Marxist-Commie. If so, where will that leave u and your comrade in arms?

Obama is nothing more than a hood ornament on the fancy packaged brightly painted promises of an automobile that one day will fade when the payments start coming due......

I believe in the pendulum theory of government, it has always swung from left to right and back left again......

Extremism, Left OR right, needs not be tolerated...

As far as my "Rants and Raves"....I practice what is called "Freedom of Speech".......

And it is "Tolerated" here, just as I tolerate what others have to say, even if I disagree ....

I do not feel any member of this site or visitor has not been helped in wanting information, and searching this site will attest to that fact, and when they cannot find, many on here will go out of their way to help get an answer...

People on the other site just plain lost interest because of lack of banter, and a one way direction it took being always used as a instrument of USA bashing, with out any semblance of tolerance.....

I had about 2 or so what I considered "Fun" years there till Alan passed and when that happened, so did the tolerance of a swinging L/R chat, information forum.....

As for our country, the USA becoming more socialist....This too will pass, and swing back the other way.......

But freedom of speech?....It is going to take more than a handful of "Brown Shirts" to shut up those of us that care enough to defend it......

I do not usually make comments of this nature, or get very far sucked into banter of this nature, I often just state my opinion, and go back to my writing of humorous, informative, adventure stories of my quite "Colorful" experiences in life....

And again A.M.....welcome to the mad house.....Please feel free to post, but I can guarantee you, that you will be Challenged here....

That is the nice part about this site.....

Venom aside, the text above leaves me to believe that you are no longer in Nica. Did you leave, or just take leave for a rest bit or packed up for good..??

Your stir up is good but real effective debate only occurs when we know something about you (as your post implies you have followed up on this site and its posters etc, etc)

So please.. Tell us your likes and dislikes and such..

I invite you to take a strong contrarian opinion at the PRNL and see how long you continue to post. No matter how you cut it the PRNL is a censored forum. What happens when the people are censored? They stop reading and stop posting as is evident from the recent content of the site.

Returned home (Southern Ontario) bc of serious health problem, not that adequate health care wasn't available in Nicaragua, and 2 re-bond with my adult children. Will return to Nica early autumn. Have prefered Nicaraguan social relationships to ex-pat Canadian or Gringo relationships, particularily Gringos who tend to have a lot of axs to grind. As 4 personal particulars about myself, they r irrelevant except as a source of ad hominem attacks, suffice to say politically [I] am left of centre, am diametrically
opposed to imperialism in all its forms, and am dedicated to living long enuf to witness the collapse of the world's greatest most powerful empire ever conceived by imagination, military might, intimidation, coup d' etats, etc. blah blah, the American Empire. One wud rightly conclude my brief recent blurbs herein r antithetical to the purpose of this website, and to the majority(?) of its' membership. C'est la vie.

Welcome back fellow Ontarian.. (I'm in Kitchener)

I hear the Pellas hospitals are quite good, but it looks you are getting back some of what you paid for ... Tommy Douglas did have the right idea even though he was a leftie .. Unfortunately the respectable lefties left (pun) when Ed Brodbent folded his tent.. .

You NDP'ers such fun to talk too

Anyways .. back on topic... happy "ad hominem attacking"

I appreciate your observations, Renco. For several years I was an active contributor at the site, and then stopped. Altho many of my contributions might be describe as virulent, to the best of my knowledge I was never censored. I acknowledge that others believe they were censored, chastised, denied access, etc., I also acknowlege3 that as a 'private' web site the administrator had every right to enforce editorial policies as he saw fit. Those who took offence at those policies, left, spawning TRN. Let me make one other observation: I recognize many, many names of TRN's contributors. Some of them were more virulent and hostile than I was. Insulting wud be an apt description. Since I hav only periodically scanned the list of current topics of discussion, I am in no position to comment that virullence has rooted itself herein under the guise of fredom of speech.

welcome! can i point out that el doc is a virulent capitalist? and did you know he said you can't out-argue him? did you know he said that you don't have the staying power?

for one who believes in smaller limited gov't, less taxes, individual resposibility and a strong national defense, who is it that has empirial designs?

    well, welcome anyway!

He's working like a Jamaican, or at least that's his story. I suspect he's somewhere in North Korea disguised as a Japanese sushi chef, slipping arsenic in Kim Jong Il's nigiri.

As with all human inventions there is no perfect forum. However, the quality of discussion is better here and more open to opinions of others. It is my experience that you will get challenged if you are not accurate while posting here but never censored. The point is not to question the "right" to edit, it is the wisdom of consistently editing those who challenged 21st century socialism bent of the principal editor.
