Hi all..
New to this forum..
Is there a nascent rock scene in Managua?
Any 'live' places?
How about Latin/salsa?
How is the availability of electric guitars and such?
Thanks

Welcome!
Can't help with your first three questions as I'm a homebody who digs Blues, but I can tell ya that Junior Music on Calle Principal in Altamira (270-5052) will be a good source for "guitars and such". Don't know if the prefix for them is 8 or 2, though. Lo siento.

There is a huge Spanish Rock scene in Managua, lots of bars and clubs are popping up for this particular crowd, all around the Los Robles and vicinity areas in Managua. Altamira has quite a few new instrument shops that have popped up in just the last year, I have not been in them to see what sorts of instruments they have though.

Ruta Maya is an excellent place for live music and I think they have bands playing in English

Luis Enrique Calderon is excellent, we saw him at Ruta Maya, this is the only thing that made that place worth paying the money for, great impersonations.
