MGA airport this weekend

I may have to fly back to Canada this weekend on a family emergency. Nica friends here in Jinotepe have offered to drive me and say that the airport will not be shut down and that most routes from Jinotepe to the airport will remain open with few delays. What´s your opinion?

I think most of the action will be some distance from the airport, but things can always arise. You should be fine on Saturday, but I would try to get to the airport as early Saturday as you can, especially because the Sandinistas are shipping in 100,000 supporters by bus from throughout the country side, that should block up the roads quite a bit.

On July 19th in the past 2 years, the roads have been jambed packed with buses coming into the city, this might be similar or worse.

You should be fine, just stay away from the Carretera Masaya. My personal belief (hope)is that with all of the attention, including foreign news cameras positioned at various hotels overlooking the march routes that there will not be a lot of problems.
