Thread: Tourist Visa Extension and fine

Default Tourist Visa Extension and fine

I just took a TRN members son to Migracion today to pay his fine for over staying 13 days beyond the 90 day tourism visa, and to extend further.

He wanted a 90 day extension, however only recieved 77 days because they subtract the overstayed days from the extension. the Fine was 20 cordobas per day over stayed. The extension was 210 cordobas for each month, the three months were 630 cordobas + the 260 cordoba fine.

Migracion did not make a big deal about the overstayed time.

I overstayed mine big time. They just charged the fine and it was no big woop.

    Which was nice.

They should extend the 90 days to 1 year for those who live or work there

Can you just pay for the extension up front and stay 6 months?

Years back I knew someone that was working for an NGO and had a plane ticket that was 9 months from the date he had arrived, he was allowed at the airport to get some sort of work Visa that allowed him to stay in country without extensions. Not sure of your circumstance, or if they have anything like this still, but it might be something to look into.

This is a money maker for migration that is why they do not make a big fuss out of it !
