Thread: Russian Buses

    Default Russian Buses

I have been meaning to snap a picture of the Russian buses name brand for some time, but never could get my cheap camera phone out in time. Snapped one today, not the best, but the best I could do.

    Can you pronounce the name?

A bottle of Ron Plata to the first person who can write the pronunciation in English.

On a side note, the buses are apparently not worried about anyone ripping these logos off, no rivets. First person who can get me the logo in one piece so I can paste it onto my land rover will get a bottle of Flor de Caña

I really can't see the logo well enough to read it. Not that I'd be able to pronounce it, that is.

It kind of looks like this one: Ликинский автобусный завод (ЛиАЗ)/Likinskij Avtobusnyj "Zavod, Likino Bus Factory." (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

Bill, is your camera set to darken all your pictures? Or is it that gloomy where you are?

This day was a storm so that contributes with the dark cloud cover..

But in general there is a digital photography "Rule" of "expose to the right" . This means to goose the brightness by one stop.. Myself I do not like the results most of the time so I keep it at standard exposure. Some of the pix look dark because I do not bother to post process for brightness some times...

To physically get your logo, it would have moulded pins with a push clips (old school),
or more than likey it's glued on, 3M pro adhesive remover and some time will do it or a heat gun, otherwise you will have your logo in peices.

That devilish thing looks to crude and rough to be a decal.

I think it is a spray painted stencil.

Not hardly! Believe me! Learning to read the Russian Cyrillic alphabet is easy compared to learning to read Chinese characters! (Now learning to read pinyin Chinese is something else!) The Cyrillic alphabet is based on the Greek alphabet and shares some similarities with the Roman alphabet that we use. Both Chinese and Russian are, in my opinion, very difficult in pronunciation!

The story seems to have legs

The context seems to be that (the firmly Sandie aligned) bus co-ops get donated busses, preferential tax (e.g. no tax), almost guaranteed income stream, subsidized fuel and do F_ck all to maintain the buses.

It could become another "Sandie privileges'" flash point.
