    Default All packed !!

    Well we are heading down in Aug...

    Monday a non discript garbage bag blocks my path at the front door...

    "Chilo .. What is this?? ..."

    Oh just a bag Nella dropped off...

    <shrug>

    Thursday.. Another non discript garbage bag blocks my path at the front door...

    "Chilo .. What is this?? ..."

    Oh just a bag David dropped off..

    <shrug>

    Last night I come home from work.. Suitcase #1 packed , Suitcase #2 3/4 full..

    "Chilo.. What's up with the... oh don't tell me you are packing already??"

    Smile and a nod... (These are the "give away" bags BTW)

    Well where do our put our stuff??

    That is what the carry on is for

    Yes, that's us too. Except the relatives bring over "just a small thing for my mother" the night before we depart when our bags are already packed and reading 49.99 lbs. on the fish scale. And the "small thing" is a non-descript garbage bag stuffed with things.

    Do your wives buy regalos(gifts) for every single freaking member of the family

    One thing I've noticed is that, when you visit relatives in Nicaland "You pay" and when relatives come visit in The USA "You pay also"

    Every time, she says, "I'm only bringing something for ____ this time." Doesn't often work out that way.

    The best excuse you can use, when relatives ask you for a gift is "Me lo quitaron en la Aduana"(customs took it away) by the third time they'll never bother you again

    Turn on your Nica switch when you land in Managua

    Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should pay extra to pack the stuff you want to bring, just to show 'em.

    I´ve got two surefire strategies that almost always get me out of bringin´ stuff back for others:

    1. Oh, I just got back!

    or, if that doesn´t work;

    2. Sure I´ll be glad to get it for you! Just bring me US$?? before I leave so I can pay for it for you! I´ve got a 99% success rate on this one. Do I really look that untrustworthy?

    I did special order some parts for someone one time. I got paid. But, he brought me back one part (the most expensive one of course) and asked for his money back because he didn´t need it after all!

    Either one usually works for me.

    There are a couple of things that definitely don´t go over well with folks here:

    1. I just won´t have room in my bags to bring back your outboard motor, set of tires, drums and rotors, table saw (or similar items).
    2. I saw that item (from China) cheaper in Managua at the Oriental.
    3. Gee, are your sure you really need (or can afford) that!
    4. I´m not sure if I´ll be able to look for that item (which happens to be 100 miles out of my way)!
    5. That motor is thirty years old and came from europe (actually eastern europe). You can´t buy it in the US!
    6. Do I know you? What´s your name again?
    7. They won´t let me on the plane with that! BTW, I´m frequently asked to bring guns and ammunition.

    Need I say more?

    What would you need pockets for? There´s nothing left to put in them! On the trip to the states my luggage fits in my toiletries bag.

    I only got stuck once, well that was enough. I will bring anything that I can for a friend and friends don’t ask me to bring anything that isn’t o.k. Never got stuck financially with a friend, just doesn’t fit the definition.

    What a difference one year and the new (single bag @ 50lb) restrictions make...

    Here it is sneaking up on the one month mark and not a single a bag is stuffed..

    But It may have something to do with my Ogre-ness the last trip as well ...

    I am told that the festivities are to begin this week though..

    Good luck packing and hopefully you get a friendly ticket agent! ours in DC made us move things around to be at or below 50lbs! 1 suitcase was at 52lbs, not good enough, neither was 51lbs!! Good luck

    My friend brought down sheets and a landing net for me, five pair of support panty hose for the other sister-in-law of my landlord, and a camera for a guy who paid for it as arranged with me giving him the case as a gift. She didn't bring down a LCD monitor that my propane tank guy wanted. And we forgot about some of the other stuff.
