Default ANNOUNCEMENT: Your Opinion Matters a Whole Lot to Me! - Well, er, maybe...

After I finished my very first blog (see Kuka´s Kubús) on TRN, I was so excited that I wanted to write something else to post immediately. The only thing is that when I sat down to write I came up with nine different experiences that I wanted to tell you about!

After all, this is your opportunity to learn all about life with the Indians in the outback of the atlantic coast of Nicaragua. I really couldn´t decide which one to write about first. And, what if nobody wanted to read about the topic that I chose?

Then, I got this great idea...let my reading public make the choice for me! I recalled seeing an option in TRN to create a POLL. Wow, I could become popular with the masses by giving them the vote...True democracy in action right here in Nicaragua...What a novelty! And, I could learn how to use this neat feature on the Forum that I would otherwise never have any legitimate reason to use or ever be likely to want to try out.

Then, there was a problem. Jonh informed me that the Polls are available under forum topics and not in blogs. Where can I post my blogs poll if not under blogs? Certainly the TRN Policy Police will ostracize and ridicule me if my poll shows up in the wrong place! For this reason, I have carefully studied the situation and decided that if I place an ANNOUNCEMENT for my poll and include a USER GUIDE and define RULES for voting I can put it right here and nobody will get upset. At least if someone does get upset, I can comfort myself by thinking that this character isn´t really rude he/she was ¨just drawn that way¨!

    USER GUIDE

    1) Make your choice known by voting for one or more of the blog titles listed on the poll.

    2) I considered adding a choice such as ¨None of the above¨, ¨Who cares¨, ¨Give me a break¨, but then I decided that giving my readers that option would only embarrass the author. So, if ¨None of the above¨ or etc. is really your choice, just leave the poll blank and submit it. Don´t worry, I´ll know what you mean!

    RULES

    1) You can vote as many times and as often as you like. Its depressing to see low response numbers. I don´t care if the results are unfairly skewed. I´ll probably submit my own vote a few times myself (I really do like to tell the Primera Tanda story!).

    2) If a poll is left blank, I will consider that the reader did not understand how to vote. Isn´t that the way elections work?

    3) I may (or may not) publish the results of this poll. If I like the results, I certainly will. I reserve the right to ignore this poll if I don´t like the results...After all, we are in Nicaragua aren´t we?

    FINAL THOUGHTS

Thank you for your attention. Please feel free to express your opinions...even if they are wrong!

Oops! I meant to put explanations on each of the titles. The POLL didn´t provide enough space to do so. Here goes:

    1) Zancudo and the Package
A local bus owner/driver and how he attempted to swindle me.

    2) The Gringo´s Cantinplora - The Morning Break
The water cooler in the sawmill office and why was I always sick.

    3) Dawan Blesinka (Loco´s Folly)
Loco got his chance to score big. But, were nine kilos of cocaine really a blessing from God?

    4) We´re Almost Close Now
Expression of relative distance is a matter of personal interpretation.

    5) Night Haul - Illegal Timber Trade
The illegal timber trade happens here at many levels and many shades of gray.

    6) Ispael Nani - Invasion of the Landless Poor
Indian lands here are being taken over by landless poor from the other areas of Nicaragua. This activity threatens the land and the local culture.

    7) Look Out! - Flying Teeth
My lesson as a newcomer at the sawmill.

    8) La Primera Tanda (The First Batch)
One of my favorite stories of life in the Nicaraguan countryside. I might sell this one to Pancho Madrigal!

    9) Tui Kingka - King of the Savannah
One of Kuka´s young sons walked away from the finca one day and became lost. This is the story of what happened and how it impacted those around him.

As Jonh would say, start banging that keyboard man.....

And I dont worry about "Hits" reads, who likes it, or who don't, but I am trying myself to not be so "Rustic" with my use of the English language but in my posts sometimes a Sunday School Word is the only thing that fits, but that is due to my education, or the lack thereof...

Everything you have written that I have read has been quality, and worth my time to read, as a matter of fact that goes for all of those that contribute to TRN, sometimes I don't respond, but many times I do....

Easy to say for a literary genius.

Or have you not figured that out yet?

If you bothered to put it all together and get a publisher, they'd be teaching entire semesters on your style at universities around the nation.

But alas, we'll have to wait until you're dead and gone for someone to get rich off those words.

As Bill or Dan would testify, just produce the work. Out of a hundred stories, if only a few are gems, then you've written a few gems. It's all about entertaining the reader. Throw 'em on the wall and see if they stick.

That part of the Announcements forum isn't meant to be seen by "outsiders." Gotta give an incentive to be logged on. I moved this thread to "your stories." Hopefully that's ok with you, Papatara.

I guess that I hadn´t read the USER GUIDE and followed the RULES properly!

Thanks for resolving the problem Jonh. I knew if I tried to do something new I´d screw it up! But then, history has a way of repeating itself!

Someone had also pointed this out to me via a link I placed in FaceBook.

Default As our local CPC often reminds us, ¨Vote early, and vote often!¨

One more question for the RULES committee... Can visitors participate in a poll? I don´t see any unfamiliar faces at the polls!

Generally not, participation in polls is a benefit of and incentive to becoming a member.

Oh well... I just hoped to pad my poll with lots of anonymous faces who like to lurk around sites like this one. It´s probably just as well since some of them may be contemplating a move to Cuba (or perhaps even Canada) to take advantage of free healthcare while avoiding the ¨Nicaragua Problem¨!
