My wife being born in Jinotega needed to head back to Jinotega in order to get a new original of her birth certificate. As many of the processes in country, such as getting a new Passport require an original birth certificate, which the Government keeps. Just another one of their rackets to collect more of the citizens money and make things a bit more difficult on the average person.

So, being in Managua we visited the Consejo Supremo Electoral, over by the Asamblea Nacional, and here my wife was able to get a new birth certificate in just a few minutes.

1) buy 1 government stamp for 10 cordobas, available right outside the office from one of several vendors.

2) bring your Cedula

3) pay 50 cordobas for eight day service, or 100 cordobas for and instant birth certificate.

4) with in minutes the new certificate will be ready, and it is just as valid as the one that you would have to go to your departamento Alcaldia for.
