Water Bill Increase

This was announced by Daniel Ortega on December 23, 2007 however I was to lazy to log on to the computer and write.

The article mentions that the increase could be between 13% and 25%.

The increase is supposed to affect those families that consume 5,500 gallons or more of Water, equal to 20.82 cubic meters of water.

Studies by "Agencia Internacional de Cooperación de Japón" (JICA) between 2001 and 2005, shows that families of 4 consume an average of 21.2 cubic meters of water in Nicaragua.

WOW, that's only 3.77 gallons per day per person for a family of four. It looks like it's goin up for everyone.

The study that says that Nicas use an average of 21.2 cubic meters reflects a monthly number.

That's 1.3 gallons per person per day for a family of four. Seems low.

My family of four is using 65.25 gallons per person per day.

So, average families will pay more, while the families who use less (on wells, or poorer) pay the same rate as before. Will richer families pay more for food, too? Will the price of gasoline be based on how much you use?

I recieved 3 cubic meters of water from INACAL monthly in the old house in town, and could not make it with that..Dug a well and told them to come and get the meter..
