Nicaragua last year had the highest accumulated inflation rate – more than 17% – and the lowest economic growth rate in the region. That equation has translated into an increased cost of living for Nicaraguans.
While the administration has been quick to point to international factors – a slumping U.S. economy and skyrocketing oil prices – as the reasons for inflation and stunted economic growth, Jarquin said that the only way to explain the fact that Nicaragua has faired worse than its Central American neighbors is that the Ortega government is “inexcusably irresponsible.”
“The Ortega government is failing strategically to respond to unemployment and poverty,” charged the former analyst for the Inter-American Development Bank.

I don't think Ortega is a Commie. Real communists drive Lada's, and eat canned food Ortega eats well and drives many Mercedez Benz. In my opinion He's just evil(hombre malo):puke:Pretty sick man if you ask me.
He says he loves his people, but yet you see little children begging for money at 3AM in the streets, What a hypocrite! and the people are sooooooooooo dumb; cause they worship him specially the peasants that don't have an education and don't know any better.

While the USA has an economic problem, plus a stupid war, it influences Nicaragua very, very little, and not where the average citizen would notice it. As a matter of fact Nicaragua has cash aid coming from the USA and Mr Chavez. So, where is it all going?
Just take a look at who lives the best and where the most government corruption is.
Geez, I hope this doesn't hurt tourism. Which by the way is almost the number one industry now in Nicaragua!!
