"Sir, you've just flagrantly broken the law. What's your excuse?"

"Umm, that there's no problem because I'm good at my job?"

His newspaper refers to Ortega granting Police chief Granera job security for life, which may have been illegal.

If I were her (Granera), I'd be scared - you're only police chief for life; who is next in line?

    This is valid for everyone...

... or it's valid for no one.

    How can I summarize it...

The CSE has as much credibility as the official version of Father Pupiro's murder.

The (reflector) president of COSEP speaks

"To us, what matters are the results."

"Or, the end justifies the pampering."

José Adán Aguerri was unanimously re-elected president of the Supreme Council of Private Enterprises by its 18 section chiefs ... for his 5th consecutive term, running un-opposed.

    He must be a player.__

COSEP is non-profit (OK ... for it, but employees must profit to work, right?) civil organization that helps government & businesses in Nicaragua reach agreements. Importing cars, mining gold, zona francas, fisheries, exporting textiles, importing agrochemicals, &c.

I'm glad someone follows this stuff, DY. The cartoons can be quite abstruse if you don't follow all the local news.

Hey, many thanks for posting & translating Molina's stuff.

If the 'toon is interesting enough and I'm up for it, I'll chase down the story, otherwise I rarely read LP or END. The story behind the murder of Padre Pupiro, the dumping of his body and parting out his pick-up, all puzzles me. But I couldn't piece it together from the bits I read. It seems the clergy have good reason not to let it rest with the jailing of the main suspect, with the curious-for-Nicaragua name of Yazker Blandon. But what?

Nica journalism leaves a lot to be desired. I have high hopes for Tim Rogers and the upcoming Nicaragua Dispatch to give us a "more effective caliber" of journalism.

"Johnny Walker didn't fight in San Jacinto."

"...But apparently Francisco Franco governs Nicaragua."

Not sure why "Johnny" - they're referring to William Walker's Waterloo being commemorated this week.

It ain't funny that many want to vote and the powers that be control the speed, or the lack thereof on to whom the applicant can be considered a help or a hindrence to the cause of staying in office.

The vote is secret, but an alengence to a party is pretty much widely known...
To be called a "Has Been" I must surmise, is much Greater than to be called a "Nevah Been"... JW...

I'm home. I lost the job interview because they had no bus routes. The ruling party took them for their meetings, and since I am unemployed I have nothing for the taxi. Auction, leaving the store, they stole the beans I had on credit to eat ... How salty [ ]!

Here's the candidate-president, saying we'll "sweeten the elections."
