Are you making fun of Tom?

Of course, if he tries to use the pontoon boat to commute to Little Corn, then he's fair game.

I really like that guy's concept and the quality of his work.

It's within my budget (I figured $4800 for the batteries from his Ali Express link).
The craftsman case on wheels is a nice touch. I would have room for two where my existing HC2 batteries are.

Interesting, we have the same nominal KWH capacity, 23,500,, but his is worth much more because he can discharge his batteries deeply without damage.

I try to limit my discharge to 20%.

Now,, to determine if my controllers are reasonably compatible. I'm in no hurry: the GC2 look in great shape, and with my hookup to Disnorte I can maintain their charge overnight without spending too much money.

The way solar panel prices are going i could add another 18 for what it's going to cost for the wire to run from the road, and the tubo sanitario to bury it in.
But more panels still don't the address the issue of no sun at night, or the days when it rains or there is a low overcast and little charge.

I moved the generator to a location where you almost can't hear it, but the cost of gasoline and the aggravation of hauling it will eventually pay for the Disnorte hookup.

The transformer is there, and right at the edge of the property. There is one connection to it at the moment.
It's about 300 feet to the "bench",, (site of future subdivision,, KoolTop II ??),, and another 150 to the house.

Daddy Doug reviews a micro truck. I was thinking of getting one of these as truck #2 before buying the Galloper. But the RHD, non 17 digit VIN and the hassle of getting parts for that 3cyl 650 CC was the drawback.

I bet it may sell for 5 or 6K in thhe US while you can get them in Japan for $850 ig good and $1250 in excellent shape.

This is a good little illustration on the chain of failure - The well pump fails, then the filter fails, then the controller box fails, then the pressure washer tip fails - just cascades of failure - I have this tee shirt many times over, while not for a well, similar things...

Out in the boonies of Nicaragua,, you need two of anything you can't do without.
Two inverters (I have three now), two solar controllers, two pilas.
When I do my well finally, I plan on two pumps: A Grundfos slow pump,, and a conventional submersible twenty feet up the well.
The Grundfos should be good forever,, for $2000 it better be, but this is Nicaragua after all.

Even then,, the fickle finger of fate will still point in your direction from time to time and totally muck up your best plans.

It's different if you live in Managua,, or even ,, Estelí

And if you want to do things YOUR way,, it gets even dicier:

Nolen: John,, we're out of emt > box connectors.
John: Can't be, I just bought a box of 50 at Cubas
    Nolen: I used them all
John: Why didn't you tell me before you completely ran out ?????
Nolen: We're getting low on outlets too

Nobody has metal emt or fittings in Condega, it's all plastic.
And no one in Condega has anything besides really cheap outlets with the "wrap the wire around the screw" connection.
That would be OK if the wire were solid, but not with stranded. I use the compression connection outlets.

Cubas in Estelí is an excellent resource for electrical supplies, great inventory and if they don't have it,, will put it on a truck from one of their other locations for $6. Cubas is on the south end of Estelí,, so two hours one way most days for me.

Yesterday I ordered a quintal of barilla lisa to reinforce the cement slab of a patio, this came from Condega. Shelley dropped off the list, guy was here same day,, with one length of barilla. Who orders one piece of rebar ????

That wire mesh we use in the US is cheaper in Estelí than barilla, but I would have to go to Estelí .
Enrique is welding a mesh out of the barilla,, when he finishes I can use the patio slab for the floor of a Titan missile silo if the need ever arises.

The iconic symbol of Detroit decline and decay is getting a facelift by Ford as an office tower.

The message in a bottle from 1913 was cool.

It was pretty well my only real association with murder city right through the mid 00's. Detroit's revival is one

This is an interesting little ditty.

So the tall lanky fellow is the driver of an Armored Car in south Africa - The first half of this video is how bandits in 2 vehicles start shooting up his armored troopie and how he tries to spin out the perps with his bulked up Toyota.

The other is a bit of the video is by the Armor car company showing how well their armor works by sitting in the truck and taking shots while in the truck with the compromised glass. That is product confidence!!

Saw this few weeks back. Lot of cars in MGA are rigged the same, I know a few guys that travel around with them. They travel in convoys, 3-4 vehicles that are all identical, they mix up the trip every time, 1 of the cars is armored.

    Oh NO, Mr Bill!

That's my Champa in Tucson !!

I only kept it because I thought that Krisnia would be going to school there next year.

It's a dump, but it's very comfortable and it's secure.
